1,800-Mile 1999 Shelby Series 1
This 1999 Shelby Series 1 is #7 of 249 examples produced by Shelby American, and it remained with its original owner for 22 years before it was purchased in 2021 by the current owner, who has added approximately 300 of the 1,800 miles. Power is provided by an Oldsmobile-based quad-cam 4.0L V8 paired with a six-speed manual transaxle, and the car has an aluminum chassis, carbon-fiber bodywork, Centennial Silver Metallic paint, red stripes, a black soft top, pushrod suspension, 18″ multi-piece alloy wheels, a Borla exhaust system, black and gray leather-trimmed twin Cerullo bucket seats, a carbon-fiber shift knob, a Monsoon sound system, and air conditioning. This Series 1 has spent a total of 23 years registered in California and is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with jackets, service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The Series 1 was designed from scratch by Shelby American and was manufactured at the company’s facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. The aluminum chassis is paired with carbon-fiber and fiberglass laminate bodywork that incorporates a front-hinged heat extractor hood, fender vents, and an integrated decklid spoiler.
This example is finished in Centennial Silver Metallic with red stripes and is further equipped with a black soft top, front fog lamps, heated power-adjustable side-view mirrors, a Le Mans–style fuel filler, and dual exhaust outlets. The power antenna does not work.
The 18″ multi-piece alloy wheels are mounted with 265/40 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar front tires and 315/40 Nitto NT555 G2 rear tires, and the car features pushrod suspension with inboard-mounted coilovers and remote reservoir dampers. Braking is provided by front and single-piston rear calipers over vented rotors at all four corners.
The twin Cerullo bucket seats are upholstered in black leather with gray inserts and feature Carroll Shelby signatures embroidered on the backrests. Additional interior appointments include a carbon-fiber shift knob, a Monsoon sound system, an AM/FM/CD/cassette stereo, air conditioning, and power windows and locks.
The four-spoke steering wheel frames a Shelby-branded instrument panel housing a 170-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer indicates 1,800 miles, approximately 300 of which were added under current ownership.
A serialized plaque showing serial number CSX 5007 is affixed to the dash, which features a Carroll Shelby signature.
The Oldsmobile-sourced 4.0-liter Aurora L47 V8 features carbon-fiber covers and intake tubing, Borla stainless-steel headers and twin mufflers, and a Shelby-specific engine management system and camshafts. The engine was factory rated at 320 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a rear-mounted RBT/ZF six-speed manual transmission via a driveshaft housed in a rigid torque tube.
Two serialized jackets are included in the sale.
