1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 M-Code 351

This 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is a well-equipped example of Ford's iconic first-generation performance Mustang, originally finished in red with a black hood stripe and powered by an M-code 351ci Cleveland V8. The car has since been refinished in Calypso Coral, giving it a vibrant period-inspired appearance complemented by Mach 1 styling cues including Sport Slats rear window louvers, front and rear spoilers, and dual exhaust outlets. It now rides on 17-inch alloy wheels sourced from a later-model Mustang, wrapped in staggered Hankook tires for a more aggressive stance.

Under the hood, the 351ci Cleveland V8 is believed to have been rebuilt and has received several performance-oriented upgrades, including an Edelbrock AVS2 four-barrel carburetor, PerTronix electronic ignition, and long-tube headers. Power is sent through an FMX three-speed automatic transmission to a conventional rear end with 3.00:1 gearing, providing a combination well suited to comfortable cruising and classic V8 performance. A Monte Carlo bar has also been installed to increase rigidity across the engine compartment.

The Mach 1 was originally ordered with desirable equipment including power-assisted steering, power front disc brakes, quick-ratio steering, tinted glass, the Convenience Group, and air conditioning. Its combination of power steering and front disc brakes makes it considerably more manageable in modern traffic, while the updated 17-inch wheel and tire package adds a more contemporary footprint without dramatically altering the Mustang's classic character.

Inside, the cabin retains its traditional muscle-car atmosphere with black vinyl front bucket seats and a rear bench, a center console, and woodgrain-style trim. Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges, while a modern stereo and aftermarket speakers have been added. The five-digit odometer currently displays approximately 8,000 miles, though total mileage is unknown.

Acquired by its current owner in 2022, this Mach 1 combines one of the most recognizable body styles of the classic Mustang era with the desirable M-code 351 Cleveland, automatic transmission, performance upgrades, and a striking Calypso Coral exterior. Offered with an Elite Marti Report and a clean California title, it presents an appealing combination of classic Ford muscle, period-inspired styling, and thoughtful updates for enjoyable street use.
