Fuel-Injected, BluePrint 306-Powered 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback

This 1965 Ford Mustang was initially built as a C-code 289 fastback, and around 2019 it was refurbished and modified. The car is now powered by a BluePrint Engines 306ci V8 with Holley Sniper electronic fuel injection, and the engine is linked to a retrofitted AOD automatic and a Speedway Motors Ford 9″ rear end. Maier Racing suspension and chassis upgrades were installed along with Wilwood brakes, power steering, a Flaming River tilt column, Vintage Air, Dakota Digital gauges, 17″ American Racing alloys, and GT-style equipment. Acquired by its current owner in 2019, this Mustang is now offered by the seller on their behalf with with service records and a clean California title.

Replacement shock towers, door skins, quarter panels, floors, trim pieces and the trunk lid and taillight panel were sourced from Restoration Parts Services in 2018. GT-style equipment and a hood scoop were added, including the rear valance and grille lights, and the car was then repainted silver. The glass and weather seals were also replaced as part of the work. Chips are noted on the front end, and there is a dent in the front bumper.

Maier Racing supplied a MOD1 rear suspension kit, front tubular control arms and coilovers, later-model spindles, a Wilwood front big-brake kit, rear discs, and master cylinder, an MOD 14:1 power steering kit, and a chassis stiffening kit. The 17″ American Racing alloys are mounted with staggered Hankook rubber.

The interior was redone and features bucket seats with red upholstery, a console, Vintage Air climate control, and a radio blanking plate. USB plugs and the controls for the Holley Sniper EFI system are concealed ahead of the shifter.

Dakota Digital gauges, a Flaming River column, and a flat-bottom steering wheel were added. The 6,500 miles indicated represents the distance driven on the build.

The 306ci V8 was sourced from BluePrint Engines, and it is topped by an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, finned valve covers, and a matching air cleaner. MSD ignition and a Tanks, Inc. tank were added along with a Tru Trac serpentine system and a harness from American Autowire and an aluminum radiator.

The retrofitted AOD automatic is linked to a Ford 9″ sourced from Speedway.
